Today’s Tip: Winter Fishing
When winter time comes, the small mouth bass and trout at your favorite stream that you caught all summer long haven’t disappeared, but they do behave differently. The key to finding them in the off season is finding deeper holes with slower current, and fishing baits and lures at the right speed.
A small marabou jig drifted below a slip float presents a slow moving target. You don’t have to impart any action on the jig, the marabou feathers breathe and flutter naturally in the soft current. Tip the jib with a piece of worm, and set the hook if your float even pauses, strikes this time of year will be subtle.
