Just an Update on the sorry state of my website. It seems like it has been one problem after another, and I feel like I at least owe my readers an explanation of what is going on. While a popular phrase these days is “transparency,” I hate that phrase and that concept, probably because of my military days. While I had a Top Secret security clearance, what was constantly re-enforced in the Air Force was that you share knowledge on a “need to know” basis. That meant that just because someone else you were talking to had a Top Secret clearance that you wouldn’t share information with them unless they had a need to know. A need and a want are two different things. Today it seems that everyone feels entitled to know everything about everything, whether they have a need to know or not. But as far as my readers go, I felt like I should communicate what is going on with my site and my posts. To me, that is a need to know.
I am very disappointed to say that I am having problems with my website, my products, and even the ability to post a picture in this post. I have spent an enormous amount of time in the past week working on all of these different things, and tonight I was about ready to throw in the towel, but I can’t give up on my past two years worth of work I spent to get to where I am today with this website.
I predicted before I left on my fishing trip that things would be messed up when I got back, and I was right. But it was not only because of the automated product load (which I have functioning fairly well now), but I had problems with my website browser, my hosting facility went down for over a day, and I had a new upgrade of my website management system, all in the same week. That’s the ingredients for a perfect storm, and it happened, and I apologize for that.
I have so much more content to post and products to offer, but I have had to shift my focus to these other problems. Unfortunately I only have so much time in a day, just like everyone else, and my website has suffered as a result. I like to think optimistically that I will have things resolved in a few days, but I can’t promise anything at this point. I can promise that I will get the issues resolved, and I will be back to providing new content, and I have a lot of new products to review and endorse, or not endorse, as I pledged in my home page.
It’s very frustrating to me to be in this position, especially since my readership was growing so strongly right as all of this happened. But it is what it is, and I have to deal with it. Right now I want to be writing about the rest of my trip last week, or my preparations for my elk hunt in 5 weeks, but I can’t, I have to deal with these other issues until I get them resolved.
So there is my transparency to you, my readers, you have a need to know what is going on, and I appreciate your patience. I also appreciate all of you who have emailed me to ask what’s up with my site and my posts, thanks for your support. I will get the issues resolved and get back to posting the content that you have come accustomed to, and in addition I have a ton of very nice products from a new supplier that I think you will like.
